Bang (original title Peng) is a sharp political satire by German playwright Marius von Mayenburg – his “allergic reaction” to the rise of authoritarian leaders in Europe and beyond. The play mercilessly parodies populism, toxic masculinity, and the craving for simple answers to complex problems. The central figure, Ralf Bang, is a narcissistic, racist, childish leader who strongly resembles Donald Trump. The world premiere took place in June 2017 at Berlin’s Schaubühne.
